چکیده

Hyalu ron ic acid (HA), first isolated by Meyer (1r is a compound of considerable biological interest. This polysacchar ide has been found in m a n y an imal tissues, especially those of mesenchymal origin, and in the capsules of some types of bacter ia . Fur thermore , a mucinous polysacchar ide of the HA type was detected and isolated from fowl sarcoma by K a b a t (10) and by Claude (5). These findings have been confirmed recent ly by War ren and co-workers (17), by Caputo (5), and by Harris, Malmgren , and Sylv6n (9). I n the course of some research related to the impor tance of mucoprote ins in t umor growth, we became interested in the isolation and characterizat ion of Rous chicken sarcoma HA. In this paper will be described the results of a s tudy on the physicochemical propert ies of HA isolated f rom Rous chicken sarcoma, compar ing it wi th the same compound prepared f rom normal sources, such as cock's comb, ox synovia l fluid, and h u m a n umbil ical cord.

Cellular transformation and differentiation. Effect of Rous sarcoma virus transformation on sulfated proteoglycan synthesis by chicken chondrocytes.

Incorporation of sulfate into sulfated proteoglycans by isolated chicken chondrocytes was inhibited up to 74% by transformation with the Rous sarcoma virus, and a similar inhibitory effect was observed on acetate incorporation into chondroitin sulfate. Slower sedimenting sulfated proteoglycans appear after the viral transformation. The ratio of chondroitin 4-sulfate to chondroitin 6-sulfate in ...

Studies on Amino Acid Incorporation into Protein of Tumors Induced by Rous Sarcoma Virus and Hyperplasia Induced by Fowl Pox Virus in Chorioallantoic Membrane of Chicken Embryos.

Comparisons were made of the rate of incorporation of C'4-labeled L-arnino acids into protein of chicken embryo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) infected with viruses that induce cell proliferation. A tumor virus (Rous sarcoma virus) and a nontumor virus (fowl pox virus) were used in these studies. In ovo studies of glycine-C14 incor poration into the protein of Rous sarcoma virus-induced tumors ...

Calcium-dependent regulatory protein of cyclic nucleotide metabolism in normal and transformed chicken embryo fibroblasts.

The concentration of a calcium-binding protein modulator of 3':5'-cyclic-nucleotide phosphodiesterase (EC 3.1.4.17; 3':5'-cyclic-nucleotide 5'-nucleotidohydrolase) activity is increased in chicken embryo fibroblasts upon transformation by Rous sarcoma virus. This modulator protein from fibroblasts, which has roughly the same molecular size, charge, and functional properties as that isolated fro...

Human cellular src gene: nucleotide sequence and derived amino acid sequence of the region coding for the carboxy-terminal two-thirds of pp60c-src.

The nucleotide sequence of the 3' two-thirds of a highly conserved, molecularly cloned human cellular src gene (c-src) has been determined. This region of the c-src gene encodes the tyrosine kinase domain of the cellular src protein (pp60c-src) and corresponds to exons 6 through 12 of the chicken c-src gene, as well as nucleotides 545 to 1542 of the Rous sarcoma virus src gene (v-src). The huma...
